Why St. Croix?????????

As I sit here listening to my favorite Bob Marley CD, I am overwhelmed by all of the unexpected love and support I have received pulling together this magnificent conference/retreat. Those of you who are acquainted with me know that I can be moved to tears by anything and everything these days, from an unexpected gift of one simple (purple) flower, to a Hallmark commercial. I don't know if I am menopausal or simply crazy some days...lol..No matter "It is what it is". I can tell you this Sisters, I am learning to truly love my life. I take nothing for granted. I am celebrating every day as if God has made it especially for Marsha.  I refuse to become an ugly acting, judgmental, pessimistic, old lady .  No that is not the life my God wants for me.

So why a Conference in St Croix you ask?????
On the beach in St Croix approximately a year ago,my Girlfriends and I were welcomed and adopted by approximately fifty of the most beautiful women we ever met.  These Sisters ages 29-80 were living life! As I share this day with you I am having a difficult time finding the appropriate adjectives, along with grammatical correctness to give you a true understanding of the spiritual, emotional and mental impact this day had on our lives.  These sisters showed a genuine hospitality that is rare amongst many women today.  On that day we ate, drank and danced on that beach, I felt privileged to be there.  I was so moved by the way each Sister made her way over to me and my Girlfriends to welcome us into their circle.  Each woman explained to us how they had become a part of this great Sistership.  I was fascinated by their willingness to so openly share their life stories.  As I sat there in awe of this colony of , "Queen Bees", I began to reflect on the importance of Sistership, and the need to cultivate these very vital relationships.

(stay tuned more of the story to come )

What is Meant to Be Is Going To happen!

When I began this journey 10 months ago, who would have even imagine this little bitty "Girlfriend's Retreat" would evolve into this Great Big, for lack of a better word, THING! That has become known at the Sisters Of Power, "Women's Empowerment Conference". Well Ladies what I can tell you is that, If it is meant to happen, It Will and you better hold on to your seat when it starts to roll.
I laugh to myself when I thinks of how very innocent this all began This "Thing" was born, hatched, grew wings, and took flight. My Life Has Never Been The Same, since I stepping on the plane with my "Girl Friends",for my "Fabulous 50 Celebration Trip" to St Croix US Virgin Islands.  While on that trip I learned what Life and Living were and should be about...And I wanted to tell the WORLD,  Sisters Let's Wake Up and Start Living, and Start Living RIGHT!!! I want my Daughters to learn to Live and Love themselves, My Sisters, My Nieces,My Friends.  On this single trip I learned to not sweat the small stuff. I learned that it was important to Laugh each and every day. I learned that I could Dance until the break of dawn. I learned that Looking and feeling good were synonymous. I learned that it was not only okay to be a little silly sometime, but that it was important to be a little silly. I also learned that at 50, I was still found to be Sexy Lol, ROTFL. We truly enjoyed our Celebration of Life, by Living It.  We got up each and every morning and took our time to dress and look our best, Honey we were "Fierce", we sang karaoke, (which I was informed in Japanese means to sing loud badly). We rode Jeeps into the rain forest, climbed a mountain,  swam in a lagoon, slept on the beach, watch the sunrise and set in the same day, drank coconut water from the coconut, Laughed at least three times a day until we could hardly breath!!!, Cried , prayed and promised to "Live". And On that beautiful day on the beach in St. Croix where we first met our Cruzian Sistership, and our "Thing" was birthed, I somehow knew my Life, as I had known It, would never be the same.
